Refunding transactions is easy with Recurly, but did you know a transaction can also be partially refunded? This is great for circumstances where a user has partially used up service, but needs a refund for time remaining.
To issue a partial refund, a transaction must be settled (usually older than 24 hours) and cannot be older than 120 days (90 days for some payment gateways), then follow these steps:
Access the user's account, and scroll down to their transactions list
Click on the specific transaction you wish to refund
Click Refund Options at the top of the page
Enter in a custom refund amount (pictured above) then click Refund Transaction
With Recurly's new Void/Refund email, your customer will now automatically be notified of the refund. Contact Recurly Support if you have any questions about this feature or would like more pro tips!
