Sell Items in Recurring Subscriptions With the Recurly Item Catalog
Following our Q1 release of the Recurly Item Catalog for easier management of your product and service offerings, we’re thrilled to announce the latest enhancement to our catalog functionality.
You can now sell items as recurring charges on Recurly plans and subscriptions in addition to selling items as one-time charges. We call these recurring charges, “add-ons.”
How Selling Catalog Items Works
Simply build a catalog of physical, digital, and service-oriented offerings in Recurly, or connect your system of record for the things you sell to Recurly. You can then sell those items as recurring charges on Recurly plans and subscriptions in addition to selling them as one-time charges.
Leveraging an item catalog in this way provides the following key benefits:
Manage both one-time and recurring offerings in one place, as well as selling the same items across both channels
Add-on creation is faster and easier because many attributes of the add-on are automatically pulled from those of the item in your catalog (see example below)
Easily analyze plans, subscriptions, and sales. Because attributes, including the unique identifier, are entered only once on the item in the catalog, clean data is guaranteed for all downstream activity.
