Snowflake + Recurly: A Match Made in the Cloud
It’s no secret that companies of all sizes and in every industry consider data a must-have. If you’re able to take full advantage of the data you have on hand, you can gain deeper insights into the state of the business, make better decisions at a faster clip, and increase your operational efficiency.
To make the best of use of your data, you need to be able to act on it quickly. It’s no wonder comprehensive cloud data platforms like Snowflake have exploded in popularity over the last few years. That’s why we’re pleased to announce a new integration with Snowflake that enables Recurly customers to automatically export their data directly into Snowflake.
What are the benefits of having my Recurly data in Snowflake?
Having your subscription billing data in Snowflake alongside all your other data unlocks numerous reporting and analysis possibilities. Keeping all your data in one place makes it easier for you to identify trends in your business. Many enterprises in particular have bespoke reporting needs, and Snowflake’s flexibility makes creating custom reports seamless.
Perhaps you want to track the performance of a recent email campaign aimed at preventing customer churn, so you might correlate your Recurly data with analytics from your email automation system. Or maybe you might want to create your own sales forecasting dashboard using data from both Recurly and your CRM. Snowflake makes that possible.
Why should I use Recurly’s Snowflake integration?
Snowflake makes creating useful reports and data-intensive applications simple — once the data’s all there. Until now, though, it wasn’t terribly easy for Recurly customers to bring their Recurly data into Snowflake. Recurly merchants would have to build and maintain their own ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines or pay an ETL vendor to do the work for them. This was not only a costly endeavor, but also a time-intensive, manual process.
Recurly’s Snowflake integration dramatically simplifies the data export process. Just set it up once (more details on how it works below) and you’re good to go! No manual extraction, transformation, or loading required.
Up to now, everything has been very manual in terms of getting reports out of Recurly and into Domo where our dashboard lives — now the data just shows up! Having Recurly and Snowflake integrated helps automate our data pull process, resulting in more frequent updates and improved efficiency. It drastically reduces the manual effort required, saving us a ton of time.

How does it work?
Recurly uses Snowflake’s Secure Data Sharing framework to directly share merchant data with Snowflake. If you’re already a Recurly customer, contact Recurly Account Management and then request a data share directly from the Snowflake Data Marketplace. This doc lists the kinds of data you can currently export.
Recurly data automatically gets updated in Snowflake every hour (or every day, if desired), so merchants always have the most up-to-date information at their fingertips.
Wrap Up
Thousands of businesses leverage the power of Snowflake to aggregate all of their data and make more informed decisions. We’re looking forward to seeing Recurly merchants add their Recurly data into Snowflake alongside data from other platforms and gain a more holistic view into every aspect of their business.
