Dieux experiences significant growth, gaining 200+ subscribers in a day

Dieux growth after moving to Recurly Commerce:

1000+ Subscribers in 3 weeks 200+ New daily subscribers

Founded in 2020 by a clinical cosmetic chemist, a multi-hyphenate creative, and an expert brand builder and esthetician—Dieux is a clinically vetted skincare company that is religious about results. They are price transparent, rooted in science, accountable, and responsibly sourced.

We make clinically tested price transparent skincare so people don’t have to take a leap of faith with beauty.

Charlotte Palermino, Co-founder/CEO, Dieux

‍With a mission to raise skincare standards, founders—Charlotte, Joyce, and Marta have come together to ensure that ‘you only get the good stuff.’ They use safe ingredients that follow the highest global regulatory standards to formulate comprehensive products that address key skin concerns.

What truly makes Dieux a class apart in the beauty industry is that they are very upfront about the limitations of skincare, a belief that’s slowly been adopted by more brands now. Dieux’s message to the world is clear—’we don’t believe in miracles, we believe in rituals that produce results.’

We got talking to Charlotte Palermino, the Co-Founder & CEO of Dieux, who along with her other two founders are joined by a team of advisors including a board-certified dermatologist and various experts in the space, to build skincare products that are transparent in every way.

Charlotte shared their goal of educating customers to make smarter purchase decisions. She also dove into how they witnessed a massive spike in subscriptions with Recurly Commerce's powerful platform.

Challenge: Scaling up with a small team

‍The team at Dieux keeps it simple, they believe—products should do what they say they are going to do. They also strive to give their customers what they need.

Dieux did not start out with subscriptions for a long time. They already had a really successful model going with one-time purchases. So, what led them to take the subscription route?

The answer: Customer feedback.

It’s an honor when someone buys your product once; it’s surreal when they buy it again. We wanted to be able to give them some sort of benefit or props, just to say thank you. So, that’s how we approached subscriptions.

Charlotte Palermino, Co-founder/CEO, Dieux

As they were starting out, Dieux wanted a platform that would solve two key challenges for them.

An intuitive and customizable platform for the customers who requested a subscription model

Make subscription management a breeze for their small and nimble team

Solution: An aesthetic subscription platform with an excellent UX

In an increasingly crowded environment, where people are vying for your customers’ attention—subscriptions are a great way to reward those customers that are your repeat purchasers.

Charlotte Palermino, Co-founder/CEO, Dieux

While there was always a fear that a few customers will cancel their subscription on securing a discount, Palermino and the team decided to go ahead and launch a subscription model. They did this to honor the request of a few 100 customers. The results that followed were record-breaking, to say the least.

Charlotte Palermino, Co-founder/CEO, Dieux

Charlotte explained that with Dieux being a small business, they do not have the luxury of dedicating their team’s time towards figuring out clunky and confusing subscriptions. This is where Commerce proved to be a game-changer.

Upon signing up for Commerce, the team at Dieux no longer had to worry about subscriptions. According to Charlotte, all you need to do is—port, plug, and play Commerce, and your customers are instantly happy!

With Commerce, Dieux saw a huge spike in subscriptions, here are the numbers:
