Stay another day: citizenM and Recurly partner to offer subscription service
Subscription services are in hot demand for frequent travellers
LONDON, UK 13 SEPTEMBER 2023 - Recurly, a leading subscription management and billing platform, today is proud to announce its relationship with global hotel and lifestyle brand citizenM to enhance its mycitizenM+ guest subscription service worldwide.
Subscription services are in hot demand for frequent travellers, helping drive a predicted growth in the global hospitality industry to US$5.8 trillion by 2027. As businesses look for more innovative ways to attract and retain customers, subscription offers for travellers provide benefits and services that cater to different preferences, adding value and convenience.
citizenM will leverage Recurly and its advanced analytics and automated subscription billing to offer targeted pricing and services to its guests. By harnessing Recurly's platform alongside citizenM's customer insights, offers and experiences will be tailored for each guest, allowing citizenM to deliver world-class experiences.
Unlike the conventional approach of offering identical subscription packages to all guests, this innovative model aims to transform the typical one-time hotel transaction into a lasting, mutually beneficial relationship.
Casper Overbeek, Chief Product Officer at citizenM, said, “As a global leader in hospitality, understanding consumer behaviour is a top priority in helping us accurately predict what services our guests want from us. We chose Recurly because of its unique ability to gain valuable insight into subscription packages and we’re excited to work together to deliver better outcomes for our member community.”
Launched in 2022, mycitizenM+ now has active memberships worldwide. Subscribers gain access to benefits such as complimentary late check-out, a guaranteed room within 48 hours' notice, and a 10% discount on all hotel rooms and food & drink for a monthly fee of €10 (£9/$12).
Since its launching in 2008, citizenM has been revolutionising the hotel industry with its guest-centric approach to technology, enabling guests to manage their rooms through their mobile phones via an award-winning app, and prioritising a seamless check-in experience with no waiting queues.
Oscar Wall, General Manager, EMEA at Recurly, said, “Guests don’t just want a bed for the night any more, they want an experience. citizenM is leading the way when it comes to providing stays that leave a lasting impression, and by listening to what customers want through data, we can team up to deliver superior experiences and value-added services that make guests come back time after time.”
Recurly and citizenM will be hosting a cocktail event to discuss the future of subscriptions on Thursday 14th September, 6-8.30pm, at Soho House, Amsterdam. For additional event information, please click here.
citizenM was launched in 2008 with a purpose – to disrupt the traditional, stale hotel industry. Rattan Chadha – the founder of the global fashion brand Mexx – was inspired by his employees to create a hotel for today’s frequent travellers, giving them everything they need and nothing they don’t. This means central locations in the world’s most exciting cities, but at an affordable price. Not just a place to sleep, but somewhere to work, relax and play – just like home. Somewhere with superfast free Wi-Fi, tech that makes life easy, and world-class art that isn’t ‘hotel art’. A room with an ultra-comfortable XL bed to crash in, and a powerful rain shower to wake-up in. Rattan Chadha called this ‘affordable luxury for the people’.
The first citizenM opened at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport in 2008. As of August 2023, citizenM’s portfolio has 31 hotels in 18 exciting cities: London, Glasgow, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Zurich, Geneva, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, Washington DC, Chicago, Taipei and Kuala Lumpur.
